City crew workers cleared the graffiti at Wailupe Valley Elementary School today.
City officials announced that they were also increasing security at the vacant school to prevent further problems.
Graffiti covered the walls, doors and windows at the school's three buildings before crew members responded. It is believed the vandals struck over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The city has regularly maintained and inspected the school buildings and grounds since the state Department of Education transferred the facility to the city on Sept. 19, officials said. The property is owned by the city.
City officials said they are evaluating proposals from city agencies on future use of the site before offering the property for any other use.
