Honolulu's Michelle Wie slipped down the McDonald's LPGA Championship leaderboard today with an indifferent 2-over 74 and was eight shots off the pace of second-round leader Anna Nordqvist. The Stanford University sophomore was at even-par 144 on the Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Md., tied for 32nd.
Wie began on the back nine with two bogeys over four holes before birdieing the par-3 17th (her eighth hole) to go out in 1-over 37. She began her back nine with four consecutive pars, before bogeying the par-4 fifth (her 14th) and par-3 seventh (her 16th). She righted the ship somewhat with a birdie at the par-5 eighth to shoot a 37 on her closing nine holes.
The Punahou School graduate, who hit 12 of 14 fairways in yesterday's opening round, wasn't quite as accurate today, landing in the cut grass on nine of 14 attempts. Wie managed only 10 greens in regulation and needed 32 putts. Through two rounds, she is averaging 264.3 yards off the tee.
