On Oahu, Water has been seen receding in Waikiki, Maunalua Bay, Ala Moana Beach Park about 12:20 p.m. today. The Ala Wai Canal has also been spilling over its banks in some spots.

Oahu Civil Defense officials said at about 12:05 p.m. that they were starting to see water fluctuations in waters off Waikiki.

Officials caution people to stay away from the water until further notice.

Marcus Cruzada, who lives on the 32nd floor of high-rise overlooking the Ala Wai canal, observed obvious changes in the Waikiki waterway.

 ”;The direction of the water is actually going up, toward the ocean,”; he told the KFVE news station. “;That's all we can see.”;
