The University of Hawaii has announced that most sports events scheduled for today have been canceled or postponed due to the threat of a tsunami, as have many high school events, including the state wrestling championships. The following adjustments have been made:
>> The 7:05 p.m. UH men’s basketball game vs. Nevada at the Stan Sheriff Center is back on after initially being canceled. TV and radio coverage will happen as scheduled.
>> The baseball game vs. Oregon will be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m., with the second game starting 30 minutes after the first game. Fans with tickets to tomorrow’s regularly scheduled game will have rights to their seats for the 1 p.m. game but must move to unoccupied seats for the second game. The stadium will not be cleared between games.
>> The HHSAA wrestling state championship matches at Blaisdell Arena have been postponed until Sunday. Weigh-ins will begin Sunday at 7 a.m. at the Blaisdell Arena. Matches will begin after weigh-ins and will continue until completed. There will be no breaks between matches.
>> All ILH events have been postponed, including the Kamehameha vs. Honokaa boys varsity basketball playoff game at Honokaa High School that will decide a berth in the state tournament. No make-up plans have been announced.
>> The UH’s men’s volleyball match against BYU at Maui’s War Memorial Gym is canceled. The Warriors volleyball clinic scheduled for tomorrow at Baldwin High School at 9 a.m. is also canceled.
>> The women’s soccer team’s six-on-six tournament also scheduled for today at the UH practice fields is cancelled.
>> Hawaii Pacific cancelled its women's softball doubleheader against Dixie State and the men's and women's PacWest basketball games against Brigham Young-Hawaii at Mid-Pacific Gym.
>> The men's and women' basketball doubleheader between Hawaii Pacific and BYUH has been canceled. Rescheduling plans have yet to be determined.
