A measure approved by the U.S. Senate will help veterans get jobs and home mortgages while simplifying disability claims.
U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka of Hawaii says the bill will upgrade benefits for all veterans in honor of their service to the United States.
The legislation passed the U.S. Senate on Saturday and now goes to President Bush. It previously passed the U.S. House of Representatives.
The measure includes various provisions, including improved enhancement of home loan refinancing options, better access to the veterans appeals court and updated veterans’ rights to return to work.
