President Barack Obama began his last day in Hawaii with his typical morning workout and a trip to Sea Life Park.

Obama spent about an hour at Waimanalo marine park, where aides said he was visiting with his daughters and other family and friends. Spotted with the president's party were his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, and her husband.

The motorcade returned to the Kailua vacation compound around 10:30 a.m. A small group of demonstrators had gathered holding signs that ranged from “;we love you”; to “;support the public option,”; according to a media pool report.

The first family and friends then left the vacation home for the beach at the Marine base. They returned shortly after 3 p.m.

The first family is scheduled to leave Hawaii tomorrow.

The end of Obama's traditional holiday vacation in Hawaii comes after 10 days of morning workouts, golf, a day at the North Shore and even a trip for shave ice.

But the mostly low-key vacation also was interrupted twice for the president to give the public an update on what how his administration was responding to lapses in security that led to a 23-year-old Nigerian man being able to carry explosives onto a flight into Detroit on Christmas Day.

Obama plans a meeting in Washington with multiple agency heads to address the investigation and the next steps.
