Bob Nash was fired as University of Hawaii basketball coach today.

Nash had one year remaining on his contract, worth $240,000. The Rainbow Warriors just completed a 10-20 season.

Athletic director Jim Donovan said he has received $100,000 from anonymous sources to pay Nash's last year of salary and intends to raise money for the total; Donovan did not specify the exact amount of the buyout.

Donovan said he offered Nash a position in the athletic department, but Nash declined.

“;This is a business decision based on win-loss records over the course of three seasons,”; Donovan said of Nash's firing.
