A dog belonging to missing Pearl City resident Gail Yoshida walked out of the woods near Waimano Trail this afternoon.

Police and fire officials were responding to the sudden appearance of Maile, a Jack Russell terrier, with a renewed search for Yoshida, 64.

Yoshida was last seen walking the dog on May 3.

Details on the dog's condition were not immediately available.  

Earlier today, family members and relatives gathered at a news conference at Sister Roberta Julie Derby Park near the Pearl City Substation to renew their appeal for information from the public.

Honolulu police spokesman Maj. Frank Fujii said foul play has not been ruled out in the case.
