WAILUKU »  The Maui Police Department has announced one of its officers has been freed on $10,000 bail.

The department said today that Officer Ryan Masada turned himself in Monday after being charged with promotion of a dangerous drug and a second count related to drug paraphernalia.

The department said today that the 39-year-old Masada has been reassigned from the Wailuku Patrol Division to administrative duty. He is a 17-year veteran of the department.

The department said that due to the pending prosecution, no other details will be released.
