Houston repeats as WAC player of year, Danielson freshman of year

Senior hitter Jamie Houston repeated as the Western Athletic Conference volleyball player of the Year and six other Hawaii players earned all-conference honors on the team announced at tonight's WAC tournament banquet.
Joining Houston on the first team were freshman hitter Kanani Danielson — also named the WAC freshman of the year — junior hitter Aneli Cubi-Otineru and junior middle Amber Kaufman.
Named to the second team were senior libero Tara Hittle, sophomore setter Dani Mafua and senior middle Nickie Thomas.
Danielson and freshman hitter Stephanie Ferrell were selected to the all-freshman team.
New Mexico State coach Mike Jordan was named coach of the year for the second time in three seasons.
