The state Department of Transportaion is closing Hilo Airport starting at 6 a.m. this morning because of the tsunami threat.

Passengers scheduled to leave on flights to and from Hilo are asked to contact your airline. All other airports remain open.

Vessels are ground crews are also being asked to evacuate state harbor areas.
