Hawaii-Hilo top choice in PacWest volleyball

The Hawaii-Hilo women's volleyball team was the preseason coaches' pick to win the Pacific West Conference title this season.
The Vulcans received three first-place votes in the poll released today. UHH senior hitter Josemara Pinheiro was named the preseason player of the year.
Defending champion Brigham Young-Hawaii, receiving four first-place votes, was No. 2 followed by Academy of Art, Hawaii Pacific, Dixie State, Grand Canyon, Chaminade, Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican.
Joining Pinheiro on the preseason all-PWC team are Vulcans teammate Fabiane Seben, a senior middle; HPU junior middle Kelly Balanay; BYUH sophomore hitter Losaline Faka'osi; Dixie State senior hitter Katie LUna; Academy of Art junior hitter Dan Yang; and Lauranne Durbin, a sophomore libero for Grand Canyon.
