The Hawaii Pacific softball team defeated Metro State 7-2 today to advance to the NCAA II national championship game vs. Valdosta State at 9 a.m. (Hawaii time) tomorrow.

The Sea Warriors trailed Metro 2-1 after the third inning, but scored six unanswered to improve to 49-8.

HPU's Sherise Musquiz pitched a complete game, yielding seven hits and striking out four.

Valdosta State (50-8) advanced to the championship game with a 3-2 win over Angelo State, which HPU defeated 1-0 earlier in the championship tournament.
