Weather forecasters say Hawaii residents should remain alert as Hurricane Felicia continues to cross the Pacific.

Richard Knabb, deputy director of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu, said today that it was too early to determine exactly where the storm will travel.

The current forecast has the hurricane weakening to a tropical depression with winds of less than 39 mph by the time it reaches the state Tuesday morning.

However, Knabb says at five days out, there are weather models showing Felicia could change course and go north or south of Hawaii.

He says forecasters will have a much better idea of what the potential impact of the storm might be once the weekend arrives.
