Fernandez, Kalaheo escape late Campbell run for OIA boys playoff victory

Eighth-ranked Kalaheo, cushioned by a 41-26 first-half lead, escaped a late run by No. 10 Campbell to advance in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference playoffs at Kahuku High School last night.
Aaron Fernandez led Kalaheo with 24 points, followed by Richard Preza Haynes' 17 points and Matt Gasparine-Young's 16 points.
The Manuel brothers could not do it alone for Campbell despite scoring a combined 51 points, hitting all of the team's six 3-pointers.
