Events canceled, malls closed across islands

Plans changed dramatically for people across the state today with a tsunami alert that canceled normal activities, from shopping to golfing.
Closures included all public libraries, Honolulu Zoo, city beach parks and golf courses, the Ala Moana and Hawaii Kai Satellite City Halls. (Satellite City Hall facilities were open in the Pearl Ridge and Windward City Shopping Centers).
Diamond Head State Monument and all coastal or low-lying state parks and the Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve on Maui were closed by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Other closures:
SHOPPING MALLS
Ala Moana Center, Ward Centers, Windward Mall on Oahu; Queen Kaahumanu Center and Whalers Village on Maui and Kings' Shops on Big Island.
SCHOOLS
All University of Hawaii campuses, including athletic events.
Hawaii Pacific University
Argosy University
Punahou School and Iolani School campuses
ATHLETICS
All UH, ILH and OIA athletic events
TRASH:
If regularly scheduled trash pick-up doesn't arrive today, rubbish will be picked up on Monday.
No recyclables will be picked up today.
CLINICS
Kaiser Permanente closed clinics on Oahu at Nanaikeola, Kapolei, Kahuku, Kailua, Hawaii Kai, Ala Moana and Mapunapuna; on Maui at Lahaina, Kihei and Wailuku , and in Hilo on the Big Island.
Patients with urgent needs in an area with a closed clinic are asked to call an open clinic for an appointment. Clinics are open at Moanalua Medical Center, Honolulu, Waipio and Koolau on Oahu; Maui Lani on Maui and Kona and Waimea on the Big Island.
EVENTS
The Royal Hawaiian Center was closed and all regularly scheduled Saturday entertainment and cultural classes were canceled. They included Polynesian Cultural Center entertainment at Royal Grove, live Hawaiian piano music at the paina Lanai food court and Hula Kahiko performance at Royal Grove.
BUSINESSES
All Servco Pacific Inc. locations were closed. Customers with service appointments must reschedule them.
POLITICAL EVENTS
Grand opening for U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie's gubernatorial campaign headquarters at 11 a.m. at Ward Warehouse canceled.
MISCELLANEOUS
