Punahou graduate Alex Ching was at 6-under-par and atop the leaderboard at the NCAA men's golf championship when his round was suspended by darkness today at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. The San Diego freshman shot 5-under through 11 holes and will finish the second round tomorrow morning before playing the third round. The individual winner will be decided through 54 holes.
Ching birdied the first and fourth holes and carded an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. He then birdied No. 9 and parred the next two holes before play was halted.
Georgia’s Russell Henley and North Carolina State’s Matt Hill are the leaders in the clubhouse at 4-under 138 for the tournament.
