Big Island police charged a 31-year-old man in the shooting death of another man at Puhi Bay near Hilo Sunday.

Desmond Lewi was charged with second-degree murder and firearm violations. His bail is $1 million. At 9:07 a.m., officers found 33-year-old Cameron Mauga of Hilo with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at Hilo Medical Center.

Police said the two men knew each other. Investigators want help finding the suspect’s brother, David Lewi, 30, who may have information related to the case.
