Folk songs to help hospital
Naoyuki Harada will perform a benefit concert of Japanese folk songs at 11:30 a.m. June 13 at the Pacific Beach Hotel Grand Ballroom. Harada is a master of “;minyo,”; a style of Japanese folk singing. He is best known “;for his efforts in popularizing traditional folk songs among young generations,”; according to a release. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Kuakini Medical Center. A donation of $40 is requested. Call 926-7223.
» Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch & Crab will celebrate its 13th anniversary with a benefit for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii. A buffet-style meal will feature special dishes reflecting Hawaii's diverse culinary cultures. The benefit is June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sam Choy's at Nimitz Highway.
