UH women add hoops assistant

Gabe Henry was named to the vacant assistant coaching position on the Hawaii women's basketball staff, UH coach Dana Takahara-Dias announced yesterday.

Henry, who assisted at Odessa (Texas) College last season, was given the nod because of his up-and-coming reputation and recruiting ties, Takahara-Dias said. He replaces Patrick Knapp, who left after last season.

“;What stood out was his extensive recruiting ties in the Midwest, especially in the junior college level,”; she said. “;Having spent two years in the Gonzaga program (as director of operations), he knows what Division I is all about.”;
