Wind wrecks roof of duplex

Seven people were displaced after the roof of their Nanakuli home was blown off by strong winds.
Police responded to 87-229 Auyong Homestead Road just after 11 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found a portion of the garage roof on a duplex had collapsed on the exterior, causing some damage to the vehicle and contents in the garage.
Firefighters removed loose debris and secured the roof.
Two men in their 30s and five female residents ranging from 2 to 38 years old live at the Auyong Homestead Road address. The American Red Cross-Hawaii Chapter helped a family of five, three adults and two children, with shelter arrangements at a hotel Monday night.
Damage to the garage and its contents was estimated at $1,000. Damage to the unit was listed at $7,000.
