'Lost' folk get TV 'Dinner'

Chef Robert Irvine of the Food Network's “;Dinner: Impossible”; takes on a “;Lost”;-related challenge tonight at 7.

Irvine will be assisted by his usual staff, as well as local chef Jon Matsubara of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, on a mission to prep, cook and serve dinner for about 90 cast and crew. He's relying only on minimal kitchen supplies and food found at the show's location set of Papailoa Beach in Haleiwa. Details have been kept secret, so you'll have to tune in to find out what happened with the dinner that was served earlier this month, held before the drama's wrap parties.

Get 'Fresh' Italian ideas

Break free of the spaghetti-and-red-sauce rut by taking a cooking class dubbed “;Fresh from Italy.”;

Rebecca Woodland, author of the recent “;Blonde Vegetarian,”; returns from Italy with new ideas for working with one of the world's best-loved cuisines. The class will take place at 6:30 p.m. May 27.

It's part of the Wellness Cuisine cooking class series at Castle Medical Center, held at the Wellness Center auditorium. Cost is $15, $20 for couples and $10 for seniors and students. Space is limited; payment and reservations are required two days ahead. Call 263-5400 or visit www.castlemed.org.

Students help feed kids

The Windward Community College Upward Bound Program is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program, providing meals to all eligible children free of charge.

Meals will be provided June 6 to July 16, with 11:30 a.m. lunch served at the college's Kafe Koolau and a 5:45 p.m. dinner at the University of Hawaii-Manoa dining center.

To be eligible, children must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are part of households that receive food stamps, or benefits under Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, are automatically eligible to receive free meals.

Take on Tahitian bread

Hauula resident Mahana Pulotu will be offering “;A Taste of Tahiti: Coconut Bread”; at the Kahuku Public & School Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Pulotu will share her recipes of three different kinds of coconut bread.
