Parking rival allegedly pulls out a gun

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly brandishing a handgun during a dispute over a parking space at a park near the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Honolulu police said the juvenile and a 33-year-old man got into the dispute on Dole Street near Kanewai Park at 11:10 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the juvenile, who knew the adult, brandished the handgun and that the adult fled in a car and notified police.

Police said officers responded and arrested the juvenile.

 

Man rescued from Nuuanu Stream

Firefighters rescued an injured man in his 30s who fell about 15 feet into Nuuanu Stream in Chinatown yesterday morning.

The accident occurred at River and Hotel streets shortly before 9 a.m. Friends came to the aid of the victim and remained at his side until firefighters reached him at 9:17 a.m.

The victim was taken to a hospital. His condition was not available.

 

Copter airlifts Manoa Falls trail hiker

A man hiking on the Manoa Falls trail was airlifted by firefighters Sunday afternoon after he collapsed.

The man, described as in his 40s, was with another man and was about 30 minutes from the trail head when he collapsed from a pre-existing medical condition.

Firefighters reached the injured hiker at 5:35 p.m. and airlifted him out of the area to the Manoa District Park, where he was taken to a hospital. His condition was not available.
