Victim in accident was Kahuku man
The city medical examiner's office has identified a 29-year-old man who died Thursday in a mo-ped accident in Whitmore Village as Adrian Corales of Kahuku.
Police said Corales ran a stop sign on Whitmore Avenue at Ihihi Avenue and was hit broadside by an SUV at about 11 p.m.
He was thrown from the mo-ped, which was run over by the SUV. Corales was not wearing a helmet.
4 men arrested at Nanakuli cockfight
Police raided a cockfight in Nanakuli shortly before noon Saturday, arresting four men on charges of cruelty to animals.
For the past few weeks, residents have been complaining about cockfights on Hakimo Road, but officers were not allowed onto the property, said Waianae district Sgt. Darryl Castillo.
Armed with a search warrant, officers with the Criminal Reduction Unit gambling detail and a SWAT team raided the event at 87-1029 Hakimo Road shortly before noon Saturday, police said.
Officers arrested four men out of the nearly 550 people at the cockfight and could make further arrests, police said.
Charged were Loreto S. Arzaga Jr., 35, of Waipahu; Joseph Lai, 44, of Waimanalo; Malosi Frank Lavatai, 18, who lives at the raided property; and Patrick Takahashi, 30, of Waipahu.
