Wine tasting tees off on Big Island
KAILUA-KONA » Makalei Golf Club on the Big Island's Kona-Kohala Coast will host three golf and wine-tasting events in 2010. “;Golf Nine with Plenty Wine”; offers a nine-hole round of golf followed by wine-tasting and pupus at sunset. The dates are May 21, Aug. 27 and Dec. 10.
The golf portion begins at 3 p.m. and is limited to the first 20 two-person teams to register. The wine-tasting is open to anyone age 21 or older, with or without golf. Popular lantern festival returns
More than 2,000 candle-lit lanterns will be set afloat from Magic Island during the 12th Annual Lantern Floating on Memorial Day, May 31. The lanterns will carry messages and wishes for deceased loved ones.
The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Registry for lanterns will start at 1 p.m. at Ala Moana Beach Park on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking is available at the Hawai'i Convention Center, and a complimentary shuttle will transport attendees to Magic Island beginning at 4 p.m.
