The president's sister said yesterday that she has voted in the 1st Congressional District special election.

Honolulu resident Maya Soetoro-Ng, however, would not reveal who she voted for.

“;I think generally we need to remember we are one ohana and as long as we participate and vote we will work it out and find a good solution in whoever is elected,”; she said.

Soetoro-Ng spoke to reporters after giving commencement speeches at the University of Hawaii at Manoa but did not want to talk much about politics.

Republican Charles Djou and Democrats Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa are the leading candidates in the special election to replace former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie, who resigned to run for governor.

Soetoro-Ng introduced Abercrombie at a recent fundraiser but would not say whether she will be doing more for Abercrombie, whom she calls “;a friend of the family and a passionate and thoughtful guy.”;

Although she touted service in her speech, Soetoro-Ng said, “;I don't have political aspirations. Never, never.”;
