WHAT'S IN STORE?
Second Jewel Flair opens at Ward
Just in time for Mother's Day, Valerie Yamashita has opened a second Jewel Flair at Ward Centre, where she can occasionally be seen working side by side with her mother, Laraine Tanabe.
While Yamashita considers her Ala Moana Jewel Flair to be her serious business, she said at her Ward Centre grand opening Sunday, “;This is my fun store, where I get to play, experiment with new lines and introduce new designers.”;
Just as at the original boutique, she is continuing to feature local designers like Kimberly Le and Fran Takemoto, as well as the popular Pandora line of customizable charm jewelry from Denmark, and similar in concept, the Tipit by Ehinger-Schwarz line of rings and wire necklaces with interchangeable beads that can switched out to suit your mood and wardrobe from day to day.
The new store is near Mocha Java Cafe. Call 593-1800.
Brighton, at Ala Moana Center, also has specialty pieces of jewelry for mom, all priced at less than $50. The necklace pictured here is $42. Look for the shop in the Nordstrom wing. Call 983-3360.
Treat mom to macaroons
If you're looking for a sweet treat for mom, think outside the chocolate box and tempt her with a gift of macaroons from The Pacific Place Tea Garden, on the third level at Ala Moana Center.
The airy, ground almond delicacies are sandwiched around luscious guava, green tea and chocolate centers, priced individually at $1.75 each and packaged for you in a gift box with ribbon.

New tokidoki cosmetics charm
Face it, you probably fell in love with the free gift concept when you found your first toy surprise in a box of Cracker Jack or cereal. Now that we're adults, we still love surprises, but they are few and far between.
But tokidoki creator Simone Legno, who often admits to being a kid at heart, brings playfulness to the serious business of women's makeup with his new line of tokidoki cosmetics.
His Cromatico limited-edition eyeshadow palettes, now available at Sephora, feature colors inspired by classic tokidoki characters such as deathly Adios, cacti-costumed pup Bastardino, dazzling Diamante, with shimmering lilac, dark wine and vibrant purple hues.
Each palette is $25, and features four high-pigment shades plus a collectible charm based on the characters.
