Hawaii Air National Guard Col. Ann M. Greenlee will receive her first star as a brigadier general and assume the job of assistant adjutant general in ceremonies this morning at the state Capitol.

Greenlee, who joined the Hawaii Guard's 154th Wing in 1992, is currently director of staff of the Hawaii Air National Guard, overseeing strategic planning for a flying wing, an air operations group, a combat communications group, an air traffic control squadron and a weather flight.

She was commissioned through the Air Force's officer training program in 1981 and served as assistant professor of aerospace studies at the University of Hawaii Air Force ROTC program from 1987 to 1991.

After joining the Hawaii Air Guard, Greenlee served as chief of staff for the Joint Force Headquarters of the Hawaii National Guard in 2007-08 and commanded the 154th Mission Support Group at Hickam Air Force Base from 2008 to 2010.

She received a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and a Master of Education degree from George Washington University.
