Weekly tennis honor to Weber

Hawaii men's tennis player Andreas Weber was named the Western Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week yesterday. It's the first honor of the season for Weber and second of his career. The senior from Germany won his singles and doubles matches as the Warriors defeated Idaho 6-1 to clinch a share of the WAC regular-season title and secure the top seed in the conference tournament.

Wahine tennis player Sohpie Kobuch was nominated for the women's tennis player of the week.

PacWest softball ranks 4 from region

The PacWest Conference had four of the eight teams in the most recent NCAA Division II West Region softball rankings, keeping the conference in the running to earn four berths in the national championship tournament.

Hawaii Pacific (39-6) remained the top-ranked team, while Grand Canyon (38-11) stayed at No. 2 for the second straight week. Hawaii-Hilo (31-14) dropped one spot to No. 5 and Dixie State (34-12) was voted No. 7.

There is no PacWest postseason tournament. Because the regular season is completed, the four teams in the regional rankings await word from the NCAA for postseason berths. The top eight in each region will be selected May 10 .
