Chad Miyamoto, winner of the “;Hawaii's Fastest Human”; 100-meter race, wasn't the only person with a need for speed at the Punahou Relays yesterday afternoon.

Ashley Satterwhite and Lahaina Zoller, both of Punahou, dominated the relay races as members of the winning girls sprint medley relay, 4x400-meter relay and 4x100-meter relay teams.

In doing so, meet records were broken in two of those three races.

A record of 4:01.41 was generated in the 4x400-meter relay race in which Satterwhite and Zoller participated, breaking the old mark of 4:03.21 by Punahou in 1999.

In the girls 4x100-meter relay, Satterwhite and Zoller helped Punahou establish a mark of 49.45 seconds. The old mark was 49.5 by Mililani in 1999.

Overall, Punahou won seven of the eight girls relay races. In the boys relay events, Punahou won four of the eight races.

Maui made Punahou work hard for its victory in the girls 4x100-meter event. The Sabers' Alana Seabury sprinted out to an early lead and the next Maui runner maintained that edge all the way to the midway point.

But when third-leg runner Zoller got the baton in her hands, Punahou went in front and Satterwhite ended the race by zooming across the finish line.

The pair left no doubt in the minds of the more than 500 fans in attendance that both of them have exceptional speed.

“;My thoughts when I was running was to catch up and get the baton to Ashley as quick as possible,”; Zoller said.

Of her approach once she received the baton, Satterwhite said, “;I was just trying to run as fast as I could and cross first. I knew that Lahaina is a good curve runner. She gave us the lead and all I had to do was finish strong.”;

The other two members of the Punahou girls 4x100-meter team were Sari Kwan and freshman Kylie Chun, who was also a member of the winning sprint medley team.

In the girls 4x400-meter event, Radford gave Punahou a tough battle. The two teams ran stride for stride in the early going.

Zoller once again was able to put Punahou narrowly in front and then handed off to Satterwhite. The senior blazed around the track and never looked back in helping lead the host to a near sweep in the girls events.

Kyleigh Mann and Julia Brand were members of the Punahou 4x400-meter team. Mann was also a member of the winning sprint medley team.

Kahuku was the only other school to win a girls relay race. The Red Raiders won the girls 4x180-yard shuttle hurdle in 1:39.0 to break the old meet record of 1:39.1 set by Kamehameha in 2007.

Speed was on display in the boys events as well.

Leilehua won an extremely close boys 4x100-meter relay race in 44.09 seconds. Mililani came in second in 44.16 and Radford finished third in 44.17.

“;All I could think about was run, run, run,”; said Leilehua's Lerrion Jones, who ran the anchor leg.

In the field events, Hawaii Prep's Ku'uipo Nakoa was a double winner in the girls long jump and triple jump events.
