Hawaii's Jonas Umlauft continued to make a strong case for newcomer of the year with his third Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekly honor.
The freshman opposite, the MPSF leader in kills (5.20 sets), had 43 kills as the Warriors split two matches at UC Santa Barbara.
UH is seeded fourth in the MPSF tournament, matching its national ranking as the Warriors moved up a spot in yesterday's AVCA Coaches Top 15.
Stanford libero Erik Shoji (Punahou '08), the MPSF digs leader, shared the weekly honors. Battling the flu, Shoji had 30 digs as the top-seeded Cardinal earned their first top-seed in the MPSF tournament since 1997.
