Malama Card app offers good deals at businesses on Bishop Estate land

You've got an iPhone and like to save money. Bishop Estate leases a lot of property on Oahu to businesses, many of which want new customers. They also employ a few talented techies who came up with the Malama Member Card Program, or Malama Card for short.
Think member rewards meets GPS technology—just download the app from iTunes and it will direct you to nearby businesses on Bishop Estate land that offer a variety of discounts. Tap the screen and a virtual membership card appears that you can flash to merchants.

Eat at Hank's Haute Dogs often? The Malama Card will save you 10 percent off your next purchase. Visit a Cutter auto dealership on Oahu and you could save $500 on the purchase of a vehicle. Fill up gas at six Aloha Petroleum locations on Oahu and you'll save 5 cents per gallon when you pay in cash.
The only snag I've run into is resistance on the cashier level with employees who have yet to encounter the discount program. But give it time, and this neat little app will end up saving you big money in the long run.
