UCLA sophomore Stephanie Kono (Punahou '08) sank a 50-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win individual medalist honors at the PING/Arizona State Invitational on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz.

The putt also gave UCLA a one-stroke victory over Arizona State. Kono finished the tournament at 9-under 207 to edge USC's Jennifer Song. She had to birdie the final two holes to win and finished the final round at 6-under 66.

It was the third collegiate victory for Kono, who was also named to the Curtis Cup this week.

She lowered her season stroke average to 71.2 and has shot under par in 13 of 20 rounds played. She's shot under 70 in six rounds.

UCLA is the top-ranked women's golf team this week.
