US Airways plans to suspend in September its unprofitable, 3-month-old daily service between Charlotte, N.C., and Honolulu.
The Tempe, Ariz.-based carrier, which began the flight between the cities on Dec. 17, will end service Sept. 8 after the summer season. US Air had been using a 204-seat Boeing 767 for the flight.
US Air spokeswoman Valerie Wunder said US Air will study how the route performs through the summer before deciding whether it might want to offer it as a seasonal service in the future.
“;But that will be based on aircraft availability,”; Wunder said. “;In the meanwhile, customers can connect to Hawaii through our hub here in Phoenix.”;
