Go! Mokulele adds Lanai service

Go! Mokulele will launch service to Lanai from Honolulu on May 20 with an introductory fare as low as $39 one way.

The $39 fare for the twice-a-day flights will be valid for travel from May 20 through Aug. 31 with blackout dates on Fridays, Sundays and surrounding holidays. Tickets must be bought by 11:59 p.m. April 16. The tickets are nonrefundable, and changes can be made for $20 plus any applicable difference in airfare. Lanai will be the seventh island destination for go! Mokulele, which serves Honolulu, Hilo, Kona, Kahului, Lihue and Hoolehua, Molokai.

Japan Airlines may scrap Kona flight

Japan Airlines is considering cutting about 20 international flights, including one to Kona, and at least 30 domestic flights after this fall as part of its state-backed restructuring, according to news reports out of Japan yesterday. The total number is much bigger than the approximate 30 routes targeted in an earlier plan, reports said.

Cyanotech's former CEO quits board

Andrew Jacobson, who was removed from his responsibilities as president and chief executive officer of Cyanotech Corp. effective Feb. 27, submitted his resignation as a director of the company on Wednesday. Cyanotech has not disclosed the reason for Jacobson's removal.

Aloha Tower names new tenants

Kailua-based Red Bamboo has expanded to a 2,500-square-foot space at the entrance to Aloha Tower Marketplace and is among new and upcoming tenants announced by officials at the complex.

Segway Hawaii has opened, providing a pickup location for downtown touring vehicles.

Chin's Harbor View Restaurant will serve a variety of Chinese regional dishes in a 4,575-square-foot location beginning this summer. The marketplace also will soon unveil a new meeting and event space that will be available to tenants and private functions.

New tenants join Windward Mall

Sports Gear Warehouse, formerly located in Kailua, has relocated to Windward Mall. The 4,500-square-foot store offers sporting goods and apparel, including equipment for lacrosse, paddling, martial arts, rugby and water polo.

In addition, newly opened Kona Mac's Fun Snacks provides flavored popcorn, kettle corn, gourmet glazed nuts, cotton candy and candy; and Ono Cheese Steak will open this summer and fill the final space in the mall's new food court. Recently opened in the food court are Maruki Tei, an original mall merchant offering okazu, and Cinnabon.

GM to use brake safety measure

General Motors says it will install a new brake safety measure that can prevent unintended acceleration on all its new vehicles worldwide by 2012. The announcement yesterday comes as federal regulators consider making the technology mandatory on new cars and trucks after Toyota's problems with vehicles that can speed out of control.

  Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel has announced Abigail M. Holden as an associate in the firm's litigation practice. Her experience includes being an administrative law clerk to chief justice Ronald T.Y. Moon of Hawaii's Supreme Court, an editorial board member of the Law Review and co-author of an article on interracial justice.

Mobi PCS has promoted Andrew Honda to customer care manager from senior customer care technical support representative. He was previously in retail management and sales positions for Wireless Associates, Wireless Express and T-Mobile and was a utility technician for Ohana Telecom and Construction.

» Dirk Soma as community outreach manager. He previously worked for Kapiolani Community College and Kamehameha Schools.

» Thomas Atou as native Hawaiian revolving loan fund finance and operations officer. He was previously a program officer at Hawaii Community Foundation.

» Ed Nishioka as communications and media manager. He was previously the chief public information officer of the Honolulu Rail Transit project, deputy for the customer service department and executive assistant to Mayor Frank Fasi.
