New Hawaii men's basketball coach Gib Arnold made official the hiring of Walter Roese as his associate head coach yesterday.

Roese, a former Brigham Young-Hawaii player and volunteer coach, comes from the University of Nebraska, where the native of Brazil was an assistant for two years.

“;Walter has a great recruiting network throughout the world,”; said Arnold, who returned from a trip to the Final Four in Indianapolis yesterday. “;His connections will allow us to take a global approach to our recruiting efforts.”;

Two assistant positions remain open on Arnold's staff.
