The Walmart store in Waipahu is undergoing a renovation but won't be closing during the project.

The renovations are part of a new corporationwide design project it plans to roll out over the next few years, according to a statement from the company. The store is hiring about 75 employees to help with the remodeling.

The store, located on Kupuohi Street, already has begun the remodeling, which would offer a bright interior paint scheme, wider aisles, low-profile shelving and improved lighting and signage.

“;We are excited to bring an improved shopping experience to our customers,”; said store manager Deborah Shima.

All departments and services will be open during the renovation. Maps of the store layout will be available at the entrance, and directional signs will be posted throughout the store.

Most of the construction and moving will be done during overnight hours. The renovations are expected to be completed by June.

The retailer said the new look will be brought to almost 80 percent of its existing stores nationwide throughout the next few years.
