Police said the baby's parents took him to a hospital Feb. 6 after he suffered a seizure. Police said that tests showed he had five healing fractures, bleeding on the brain and multiple retinal hemorrhaging.
The suspect confessed to two separate occasions of physical assault to the child, which resulted in injuries, police said.
The man, who is not the child's father, was arrested on two counts of second-degree assault. He was later released pending further investigation.

Couple returns stolen $1,700 puppy to pet store
What happened to a stolen 12-week-old Tibetan spaniel will remain a mystery so long as the thief and the puppy don't talk.
The $1,700 puppy was returned yesterday morning to Pet's Central, off Sand Island Access Road, where it was taken Wednesday afternoon.
The store manager said a young couple in their 20s came into the store and said the dog was given to them.
They said the man who gave them the puppy thought it was a St. Bernard, but when he realized it wasn't, he no longer wanted it. The couple said they saw the news coverage and decided to return it to the store.
“;We were very happy to have our puppy back,”; said Sabrina Foss, another store manager. She said the puppy was “;a little tired, but he got to play with another dog.”;
The dog was not injured.
Foss said they still have no clue who walked away with the dog, which was in an exercise bin at the time. The company is rethinking how they exercise their puppies.
She said the couple who returned the dog are not suspects because they were not in the store when the dog disappeared.
The dog was identified by its microchip and will get a thorough exam.

An officer saw a handgun and ammo in the car, and witnesses identified the men, police said. Both men were booked on suspicion of reckless endangering and firearm and ammo charges. The 32-year-old man was also booked on suspicion of dangerous drugs.
