Pedestrian injured after being struck by vehicle
A 46-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu after being struck yesterday by a car on the Pali Highway.
The Honolulu man was not in a crosswalk when the incident occurred at 12:55 p.m. yesterday, about 158 feet north of Vineyard Boulevard.
Police said the driver, a 43-year-old Honolulu woman, was unable to stop in time.
Police said investigators don't know at this time if drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the pedestrian's involvement.
Man found asleep in car arrested for theft
Police arrested a man after he was found sleeping in a vehicle he allegedly stole.
At 1:09 p.m. Monday, patrol officers responded to an auto theft at a shopping center parking lot in Mililani. While officers conducted their investigation, mall security informed them that the stolen vehicle had been spotted nearby.
Officers found the suspect, 34, sleeping in the driver's seat of the stolen vehicle while the engine was running. When police ordered him out of the vehicle, they noticed he was sitting on a packet of marijuana.
The owner of the vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, arrived at the scene to get her car. As she looked inside, she noticed items in the vehicle that didn't belong to her. Among the items included an ice pipe, stolen items taken in two separate cases and identification cards with a victim's personal and confidential information.
Police arrested the 34-year-old man on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promotion of a dangerous drug in the third-degree, drug paraphernalia, detaining stolen property and contempt.
Teenagers arrested for robbing skateboarder
Two teenage boys were arrested after they allegedly robbed a man in Kakaako.
At 12:15 a.m. yesterday, a 29-year-old man was riding his skateboard on the street when the suspects, both 17, threw rocks and punched him. Police said one of the suspects demanded money while the other took his necklace and cell phone.
Area security officers stopped and detained the suspects. Police said the victim refused medical treatment.
Police arrested the suspects on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
