Raise your glass to toast good films

Wine lovers who enjoy a good flick will want to attend the “;2010 Sip with HIFF”; wine-tasting benefit at Fujioka's Market City at 6 p.m. April 23.

For $50, there will be pupu and wine, and proceeds will go toward supporting more fine films from the Hawaii International Film Festival.

HIFF's Spring Showcase runs April 16 to 22, and the organization is “;pairing”; this event with prior day's 6 p.m. screening of “;Blood Into Wine.”; The film documents the winemaking efforts of Maynard James Keenan of the rock group Tool.

Though the events are separate, organizers believe crossover appeal might boost attendance at both events. Tickets go on sale April 7 (or Monday for HIFF members, at $45 a ticket). Call 792-1577 or visit www.hiff.org.
