Christian Colon homered and scored three times and Cal State Fullerton plated seven unanswered runs to pull away and defeat Hawaii 13-6 yesterday at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, Calif.

Nick Ramirez also homered and scored three runs to lead the Titans (12-10) to their second straight victory over the Rainbows (12-11).

Jesse Moore (0-1) took the loss for Hawaii, allowing three runs on five hits in two innings of relief of starter Sam Spangler.

Spangler allowed four runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. He had no command of his pitches, walking four and striking out just one.

“;We're going to have games like that from time to time pitching-wise, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing,”; Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said. “;You get six runs on 10 hits at Fullerton and that has to be enough for you to win, but we just didn't show up on the mound tonight.”;

;

The Titans had an answer every time the Rainbows came through offensively. Hawaii took a 4-0 lead in the third inning with a four-spot. David Freitas, who finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, drove in a run with an RBI single in the third and the Rainbows took advantage of two Fullerton errors to score three more runs.

UH couldn't hold the lead as Spangler walked Walker Moore to lead off the bottom of the inning. Colon then drove an RBI double into the gap and Tyler Pill doubled with one out on a 3-2 pitch to score two more runners and cut the deficit to one, ending Spangler's day.

“;He was lucky to have lasted that long,”; Trapasso said. “;In his bullpen (session) on Thursday he was as good as I had ever seen him, but he just didn't bring it with him to the mound tonight and that's something we need to fix.”;

Greg Garcia finished 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Pi'ikea Kitamura and Christian Johnson each had two hits for the 'Bows, who were outhit 17-10.

A two-run single by Freitas tied the game at 6-all in the top of the sixth inning. Nick Ramirez put the Titans back up a run in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run and Fullerton piled it on with six runs in the seventh to break open a close game.

“;As ugly as the game was, we were only down a run in the seventh,”; Trapasso said. “;We bring in (Blair) Walters to face three lefties in a row and he couldn't throw a ball below the belt. You do that and you're going to get hit hard.”;

Walters allowed four runs on four hits and only recorded one out in the seventh.

The Rainbows will try to salvage a game in the series today at 10 a.m. Matt Sisto (2-3, 6.33 ERA) will start for Hawaii opposite the Titans' Pill (1-3, 3.66).
