Hawaii crew finishes 13th
The Hawaii women's sailing team struggled to a 13th-place finish in the 18-team St. Mary's Women's Invitational in Maryland yesterday.
Hannah Tuson-Turner and Hanne Nagatani finished seventh in the A division for UH. Charleston won the regatta with 110 points, 135 fewer than Hawaii.
The Rainbow Wahine travel to San Francisco for the St. Francis Invitational beginning April 10.
Sea Warriors earn sweep
Sherise Musquiz and Ashley Valine pitched complete games as the Hawaii Pacific softball team swept Notre Dame de Namur 9-3 and 7-1 yesterday at Belmont, Calif.
Nicole Morrow had four hits and three RBIs for HPU in the doubleheader and Ciera Senas matched her with four hits.
The Sea Warriors improved to 21-1 overall and 13-1 in the PacWest, while the Argos dropped to 6-17 and 4-11.
Hawaii Pacific visits Dominican University for a doubleheader tomorrow.
Dixie State takes it to UH-Hilo
Tony Nelson had two hits in each game and Dixie State trounced UH-Hilo in a baseball doubleheader at St. George, Utah, yesterday.
Dixie State won the first game 9-1 and took the second game 8-4.
Justin Prodan gave up one run on three hits in 6 2/3 innings to beat UH-Hilo's John Holley in the first game and Payton Rentmeister earned the win in relief for the Red Storm in the second game. Lane Kirby earned his first save of the season. Kekoa Lee allowed eight runs in four innings to take the loss.
Joshua Wong shook off an 0-for-3 performance in the first game to go 3-for-4 for UH-Hilo.
The Vulcans dropped to 5-13 overall and 1-9 in the PacWest, while Dixie State improved to 14-9 and 8-6.
The teams play another doubleheader today.
