Former Maui officer awaits fraud charges
A former Maui police officer faces 25 criminal charges including theft, drugs and forgery, for incidents that allegedly took place while she was still with the department.
Allison Moore, 28, was arrested on a warrant in Albuquerque, N.M., and extradited to Maui on Tuesday. She was released the same day after posting $150,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Circuit Court on March 30.
According to the grand jury indictment handed down Feb. 19, Moore tried to steal $20,000 in benefits from a leave-sharing program for Maui Police Department employees. She allegedly lied to gain $300 in sick leave from the department in 2008 and $300 from the Maui Police Relief Association in 2009.
Between October 2008 and January 2009, she was caught seven times with methamphetamine and each time tampered with evidence that could be used against her, a police affidavit said. She allegedly forged seven doctors' notes.
