Sunset Beach man, 58, is charged in shooting

Authorities have charged a 58-year-old Sunset Beach man who allegedly fired a handgun several times on the North Shore Friday night.

Robert Nicoll was charged Sunday with first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree reckless endangering and a weapons charge.

Police said Nicoll got into an argument Friday with a parking lot attendant at Turtle Bay Resort and pointed a gun at the attendant before fleeing.

A patrol officer near Sunset Beach found him brandishing a handgun on Mamao Street, where he lives.

Nicoll allegedly threatened the officer and fired the gun into the air several times, then ran into a neighboring garage and shot the garage door handle, police said.

Police recovered a 9 mm pistol and several shell casings.

Man allegedly punches teen found with his ex

A 21-year-old Iroquois Point man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly punched and threatened a 17-year-old boy he found with an ex-girlfriend in the back of her van on Aikanaka Road in Ewa Beach.

The man was booked on suspicion of breaking into a vehicle and second-degree terroristic threatening, police said.

Fight results in woman being struck with gun

Police arrested a 36-year-old man who allegedly assaulted his 30-year-old wife with the butt of a gun in Kapolei, police said.

The woman told police they were arguing when the man struck her with the gun and physically assaulted her shortly after midnight Sunday.

When she tried to call police, the man pulled out the cord, police said.

The man, of an Opuku Street address, was booked on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault, abuse and interfering with the reporting of an emergency.

5 people escape fire at Iroquois Point

An adult and four children fled from a fire that broke out last night at a townhouse at Iroquois Point military housing, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

About 20 Honolulu firefighters were dispatched at 8:36 p.m. to the blaze located on Elua Way.

No one was injured.

Firefighters had the fire under control in 18 minutes.

The investigation will be referred to the Federal Fire Department.

Teacher finds threats in essay by student, 17

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly writing an essay his teacher found threatening.

The student wrote a satirical piece for his high school class, police said. When the 59-year-old teacher reviewed the essay, she found it threatening, police said. Police arrested the teen on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, a felony, on Wednesday.
