Tengan interested in returning
Speculation that former football coach Delbert Tengan is interested in returning to the athletic department at Saint Louis turns out to be correct.
Tengan, who guided the Crusaders to a state football crown in 2002, said he would be interested, if asked, about the football position. Still teaching on campus, Tengan added that he is not interested in the open athletic director position.
Rumors are going around that Tengan might return as football coach and co-AD.
“;If I was coaching, I'd still want to be teaching,”; he said at last week's boys basketball state tournament.
Tengan left coaching after the 2002 football season, but returned to guide Saint Louis to the state finals in '06 and '07.
OIA shuffles boys hoops
Division II powerhouses Roosevelt and Kailua are among teams that will move up to Division I in basketball next season.
The Oahu Interscholastic Association shuffled its deck during Monday's postseason coaches meeting. Kalani, Castle, Waianae and Pearl City will also be promoted to the Red Conference.
Among the teams moving down from the Red to the White are Farrington, Kaiser, Kalaheo and Kaiser, according to Roosevelt coach Steve Hathaway.
Roosevelt won the OIA White title this year. Kailua was runner-up.
The reorganization is based on the two-year win-loss record of varsity and junior varsity programs.
