1970

» Nash joins the Rainbows as a transfer from San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College. UH sets the tone for a 23-5 mark by going 7-0 to start the season.

 

1971

» The Rainbows make their first postseason appearance on March 22, beating Oklahoma 88-87 in double overtime in the NIT. The season ends two days later with a loss to St. Bonaventure.

» UH goes 9-0 to open Nash's senior season. He sets the school's single-game rebounding record by pulling down 30 boards in a Rainbow Classic win over Arizona State on Dec. 30.

 

1972

» Nash ends his UH playing career on March 11 when the Rainbows fall to Weber State in the program's first NCAA Tournament game. He leads the Rainbows with 18.2 points and a record 14.4 rebounds per game.

» He is named a third-team All-American and honorable mention by the Associated Press and United Press International.

» The Pistons select Nash seventh overall in the NBA Draft.

 

1981

» Nash returns to Hawaii following his professional playing career and rejoins the UH program as a graduate assistant under head coach Larry Little, a position he holds until 1983.

 

1984

» Nash completes his bachelor's degree in education while coaching part-time and is promoted to assistant coach.

 

1985

» Little is fired after a 10-18 season. Nash remains on staff when Frank Arnold is hired as head coach and goes 4-24.

 

1986

» Arnold resigns following a 7-21 season. Former UH assistant Riley Wallace is introduced as head coach on June 19 and makes Nash his first hire as associate coach, a position he will hold for the next two decades.

 

1989

» With several of Nash's recruits leading the way, the Rainbows pull off the nation's most dramatic turnaround, going from 4-25 to 17-13 and earning an NIT bid, the program's first postseason appearance since his playing days.

 

1994

» UH wins its first WAC tournament title and returns to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1972.

 

2001

» Hawaii has a spirited run through the WAC tournament to win the title and faces Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament to begin a string of four straight postseason appearances.

 

2006

» Wallace announces his resignation effective at the end of the season on Dec. 29.

 

2007

» UH beats Boise State in Wallace's home farewell March 3. Fans at the postgame festivities chant, “;We want Nash.”; A 73-70 loss to Utah State at the WAC tournament on March 8 ends the season and Wallace's tenure.

» Nash is introduced as UH's 18th head coach on April 13.

» Nash makes his head coaching debut Nov. 9. The Rainbows falter late in a 73-72 loss to San Diego. He picks up his first win on Nov. 18, 84-55 over Alcorn State.

 

2008

» Nash ends his first season as head coach at 11-19, closing with a seven-game losing streak and falling to Boise State in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament.

 

2009

» The Rainbows finish 13-17, posting back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 1988.

» With a year left on Nash's contract, athletic director Jim Donovan announces the deal will be extended a year with a clause adding another year if the 'Bows win 18 games or are selected to a postseason tourney within the next two seasons.

 

2010

» A season hampered by injuries and suspension ends at 10-20 and the Rainbows finish last in the WAC, failing to qualify for the conference tournament.

» Donovan announces Nash will not be retained as head coach March 8.
