Potato salad part of recall
POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2010
Reser's Fine Foods potato salad and some salad dressings and dips have been recalled because of possible salmonella contamination from certain seasoning ingredients, the state Health Department announced.
The two red potato salad with dill products were sold in the deli department at Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Carrs stores in 10 states in the West. Safeway is recalling the product after Reser's Fine Foods announced its own voluntary recall. Consumers who purchased the products should discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund. The Health Department said it was notifying product distributors and retailers statewide.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
