The Citadel baseball coach Fred Jordan has been through countless pregame routines in his 19 seasons as head coach of the Bulldogs.

But none of them compare to the festivities of last night.

Twenty-four hours before the Bulldogs face Hawaii tonight in the first of a four-game series, Jordan walked his daughter, Kristen, down the aisle in a private wedding ceremony on Waikiki Beach.

“;It's one of those things that they were going to get married in November, but once we made this trip, they decided to move it up to have it in Hawaii,”; Jordan said.

It's an unusual trip for the Bulldogs, who have only played against the Rainbows one other time, a 6-3 loss in the 2004 Rainbow Baseball Tournament.

“;We played in one of (Hawaii coach) Mike (Trapasso's) tournaments and when we left, I talked with him and told him when the five-year waiting period elapsed if they had room we'd love to come back,”; Jordan said. “;They got an opening and we feel fortunate to be able to come back here and play.”;

Jordan has led The Citadel to six Southern Conference tournament titles and one College World Series appearance during his tenure. The Citadel is off to a 5-1 start, matching the school's best mark since the 1990 team that advanced to the CWS.

“;We're still trying to find our identity offensively after losing what's been the heart of our lineup for three years,”; Jordan said.

The Bulldogs will start sophomore TJ Clarkson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) tonight. Junior Asher Wojciechowski (2-0, 3.00 ERA), who was teammates with Hawaii's Kolten Wong on the USA National Team last summer and is ranked No. 71 in Baseball America's top 100 college prospects, and Matt Talley (1-0, 4.63 ERA), who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of last week's win over Marshall, will start the doubleheader games tomorrow.

“;TJ was supposed to start a game against Kansas State that was rained out, but we want to pitch our guys on regular rest,”; Jordan said. “;We start out conference season next week so we want to keep everyone to as close of a normal routine as possible.”;

The Bulldogs face a Rainbows squad coming off a successful series against Oregon. Hawaii took three of four games against the Ducks, ranked in one major national poll, to even its record at 4-4.

Hawaii's rotation will remain the same this weekend. Senior Nate Klein (1-0, 3.97) takes the mound tonight, followed by sophomore Matt Sisto (1-1, 4.63 ERA) in the first game of tomorrow's doubleheader.

Both guys lasted six innings, something juniors Josh Slaats (0-0, 0.87) and Sam Spangler (0-2, 4.32) struggled to do in their previous outings.

“;Both (guys) struggled with their command and high pitch count,”; Trapasso said after Sunday's doubleheader split against Oregon. “;Sam really struggled midway through (his start) with his command and that's something we've got to get corrected.”;

Slaats threw 87 pitches in 4 1/3 innings and Spangler was pulled after 3 2/3 innings and 76 pitches.

The difference against the Ducks was the inspired pitching out of the bullpen. Five different pitchers combined to allow one earned run over 14 innings and Lenny Linsky earned Western Athletic Conference pitcher of the week honors by becoming the first Rainbow in school history to record saves in three consecutive games.

Tonight's first pitch at Les Murakami Stadium is scheduled for 6:35.
