UC Davis junior Brandon Low (Saint Louis '06) finished second in the 2010 Pac-10 wrestling championships at 133 pounds Saturday in Davis, Calif.
Low, a four-time state champion in high school, was edged by Cal Poly's Boris Novachkov 4-3 in a match decided in the final seconds.
Low scored a takedown with less than 30 seconds remaining to tie the score at 3, but Novachkov was given the go-ahead point for amassing over 2 minutes of riding time to win the match.
“;I felt like I came out decently aggressive,”; Low said in the school's press release. “;I could have been more aggressive. He was able to ride me, stay on top, stay heavy, keep his weight on me and wear me out.”;
Low's second-place finish earned him an automatic qualifying spot in the NCAA Division I championships in Omaha, Neb., March 18-20.
Low has only two losses this season.
