Oahu State Senators have hammered out a capital improvements program including $1 million for a stadium site, $460,000 for a new Salt Lake Boulevard Bridge and $643,000 for continued development of Magic Island.
The Oahu Select Committee, headed by Senator Mitsuyuki Kido of the 5th District, approved the 1967 construction program of $14.1 million as submitted by Governor John A. Burns. An additional $3.4 million was allocated by the select committee to 10 projects.
The $1 million recommended for the stadium site represents a 50 percent slash from the $2 million called for in an appropriation bill introduced by Senator Sakae Takahashi.
